Interview with Nergal and Aeternus

>> Hy ! First, thank you for replying me . Can you first talk about the band and the reasons of its creation ? The band started with an idea of Aeturnus which was to manifestate all the hate about the falsity in the black metal scene and the impotency and slavery of man to religion (whatever it may be). Religion is only an imaginary frame for stupid people. It makes the weak-minded feel secure, ignoring the real aspects of life and death and believing blindly in something that no one can prove true.

>> OPUS DRACONIS is not very known here in France but is it the same in Portugal ? Have you done several shows or something else ? In Portugal, and Brazil we are well known in the underground scene. We have played several concerts and have been awarded with enthusiastic fans screaming for more songs. It still a small niche, for a small minority, but that's what underground is and that's why we like it so much.

>> How your collaboration with NEMESIS was done and how did you get in touch with them ?
Nemesis was contacted by our previous editor, Dark Profanation Prod (Portugal) to take care of our concert , but after hearing some of our tracks, Nemesis showed interest in further support of our band. After some e-mail swapping and some phone calls, we signed with Nemesis for a two record contract. The first is already on the stores and is called Satanic Truth About False Union (2005).

>> This label is new one ? Have you planed at this time some actions with them for OPUS DRACONIS ?
Actually, Nemesis has been in Portugal for 6 years, it's been working as a distributer for 4 years and editor for 2 years. Our plans with Nemesis consist of concerts in Portugal, the making of Video clips and all the merchandising associated with the band.

>> Now, let's talk a little more about the new album . Are you satisfied of it or is there some points you would like to increase for the future ?
We are satisfied with it, or else we wouldn't have recorded it. There is always room for improvement though, and we have some new ideas comming up for the next album.

>> One other point concerns the black metal voice which is really tortured in a special way. It's not common to find your voice in actual productions . How did you choose this type of voice, which can be also found in some old school bands ? That's the idea, to play black metal, and our influences are old school, so it's probably noticeable.

>> I saw you have done songs inspired by heroic fantasy like "Lord of the rings" . What are the others subjects you like ?
Actually we just used a phrase, "The Age Of Man is Over" and we would like people to give it the deserved attention. We are referring to the weak, to those we let themselves be enslaved. Our songs talk about the false union that exists in the scene, the hate against the catholic church that rules the weak-minded people lifes and all other religion that in some form underestimates the value of man making him a slave!

>> Finally, what do you think of Portugal scene ? Is it difficult to be known and recognized when you come from this country comparing to Norway or Sweden black metal scene ?
Surely Portugal has not the tradition of the nordic countries in the black metal scene, so it is difficult to be known and recognized. Even so, we are trying hard to be heard all around the world, and maybe sometime in the future the Portuguese scene will be more receptive to black metal. But in Portugal we have good bands as : Infernal Kingdom, Bleeding Display, Misery Grasp and Others.

>> Thank you, guys . I let you the final closing Words ... Thanks for the support and interview . Keep coming to concerts! I’m not talking about our concerts.
